Why christian convicts outnumber non-believing convicts by quite a margin?

That is somethign I won't fully understand. Since it's clearly the truth. Unfortunately Christians(I'm christian by the way) don't fully practice what they preach. Aka Jesus's teachings. Instead of living a life that Jesus taught, they think they can get away with things because they asked Jesus to forgive them. Like a open ended ticket to sin. Clearly not all Christians are like this, but a decent amount, especially in the case above!
