To get the one grand, you probably would need receipts to prove that your belongings were worth that much. Otherwise typically the airlines only reimburse you for the essentials. You can call and talk to another customer service person and if you get nowhere, try to escalate that up to a supervisor. If you are a frequent flier of BA, then they will treat you better. Definitely get the name of the person(s) you talked to and record the date and time you called in case someone goes back on their word.
