Federal high unemployment extended benefits wait time?

I am currently unemployed and have just received notice that my Tier IV unemployment benefits (EU08) have run out but that I may apply for the federal high unemployment compensation benefits (HEB). I know I have to apply again because it is through the federal government and not the state but I was wondering how long it takes to receive notice whether or not you are approved and how long do you have to wait after approval to start receiving your last tier? It took 6 weeks for my first benefit extension to come through and it wasn't pretty going that long without income and I was hoping it wouldn't be that long this time. Also, I live in Alabama and I know it varies state to state so if any Alabamians can share their experience with it, it would be great.
