Why in the world would any person agree to be on the show Cops?

I mean does it help pay for a better lawyer for there trial or give them some type of compensation? Because I don't know why people would agree to have their face shown and be on the show without some type of incentive. They do have a right to say no but so many people are on the show they have to get some type of compensation.
